A number of towns, cities, and counties across the United States have passed local laws or ordinances regarding these businesses. In California, for example, which has a large number of marijuana shops, 64 cities and 6 counties have passed moratoria and 130 cities and 8 counties have imposed bans on marijuana dispensaries, collectives, or cooperatives.
